VGA is Analog only, this cable will only work to DVI-A or DVI-I ports and won’t work to DVI-D. For DVI-D, a DVI to VGA converter would be needed instead of this cable.
DVI-I and DVI-A ports will have four prongs around the flat blade type connector. If your socket doesn’t have the four prongs around the blade, it’s a digital only socket and this cable will not work. A DVI to VGA converter would be needed in that case.
DVI Notes:Because the Digital signal of DVI is low voltage and noise sensitive, it is not recommended to extend a DVI cable over 20 feet. The analog signal on analog cables may be able to go longer distances.
